Loves audio portal. I'm not a musician, but I love listening to music. I vote and comment 'by feel' now more then technical know-how or real authority. (By the way, ignore most my first comments. Those come from MANY years back when I was a noob.)

EX - Forgotten Memories - 50%

"DOOO EEEEEEEET"

date: October 8, 2009

Simple enough.

I may lack the sophistication to give specific advice or criticism, but even if I did I can't hear anything that stands out as a problem. It's just easy to listen to and I think that's one of the most important things.

"Sounds like something from one of my fav games."

date: March 2, 2008

Yeah hey, this is pretty awesome. I can listen to this for hours in the background while I take care of real life business.

That and it wants to remind of the style of music from the game Chrono Cross. It's one of my favorite games.

I can't think of anything that would really need improving at all. Even the looping is smooth enough that I don't notice it unless I'm paying attention. To me that's one of the most important things of a good peice of music. Some of the instruments feel a little bit 'strong' in places such as the section before the middle but its not offensive to the ears. The melody changes enough to not drag out into monotony and it feels like it has a good overall balance.

Awesomeness. Thanks for the time spent in your review.

I tend to try to make most songs loop to keep that RPG feel. I want someone to be able to play a track, do something else and not notice at all that the song has been looping over and over.

Heavy Danger

"Awesome!!!"

submission: Heavy Danger
date: November 8, 2007

I like my heavy as hell peices from time to time too, but they can't all be heavy. I'm looking for RPG "fight" music themes for random battles. This seems like a perfect fight theme for a desert region. What makes it so kickass, is that its NOT insanely heavy. It can kinda play off in the background and add to the atmosphere, not blow it out.

All the instruments, riffs, effects, whatever everything's called. They're all there, they're all balanced out with each other, but it doesn't come out and beat your skull in. Perfect!

That's really cool, even though some people don't think it's strong enough. I guess it appeals more to different people, depending on what they listen to and what mood they're in. Thanks, this review gave me a little bit of hope ^_^

Life Breaker

"Not bad, just some loud stuff."

submission: Life Breaker
date: October 14, 2007

A lot of the instruments seem overpoweringly loud. Turning down the volume loses some of the detail, and even then somehow its just one of those things tends to cave in my skull regardless of volume. Never really have been able to figure out what causes that.

"RESPECT B*TCHES"

submission: Halo battle theme
date: October 9, 2007

I love that over-echo. It gives it this ethereal feel that I love. Reminds me of "trance" and I don't mean the genre trance. Although on the flip side... it is a little TOO strong. It's not that I can't hear the individual notes, is more like... they hang around too long and get kinda kludged together.

To find a Moonlight...

"Too short isn't a real problem with me."

date: September 19, 2007

Nice and wonderful, and I have a unique ability to listen to even a short piece of music loop for hours. Just cut off that little pause at the end and play around to make it loop flawlessly and as far as I'm concerned the shortness problem is pretty much solved for a work that's nice and powerful like this.

Author's Response:

Sorry for the late reply, but i'm gonna catch up with your other reviews right now!

Well, in fact, that piece wasn't supposed to loop (at least it wasn't my intention). Besides, at the time i wrote it, i didn't even know how to make my pieces loop.

Thanks for the review!

Rain,Earth and Wind

"Still fun, but I have some comments on this one 2."

date: September 19, 2007

I never was a real big fan of that shallower, quieter, and washed out opening that suddenly blossoms into the main music. I've heard much more elegant ways of creating the same effect. Softer or more mellow instruments and melodies, and smooth builds later on, (and not by the time the song is halfway over.)

The only time either one really goes south is when the pick-up is too strong or too much of a change and ends up ruining that delicacy of a peice that makes it too deep. That's certainly not the case here. Much as I don't like it, the build-up doesn't ruin the mood.

Author's Response:

Yup, i know what you mean. I still have that problem today.
But anyways, thanks for the review!

"Is this an older work?"

date: September 19, 2007

The music still shows the trends of greatness of your other works, but there's just one little thing. That sort of baby cymbal like ringing noise. I don't know my instruments well enough to identify it, but it seems to stand out too much. It just seems a little bit harsher and not as 'deep' and meaningful as the rest of the music. It just stands out a little like an irritation.

September 21, 2007

Author's Response:

Yes, this is indeed an old work. At that time, my mastering skills were pretty weak, and i didn't had the same headphones i have today. So yeah.

Thanks for the review !

"Eh... I dunno."

date: September 19, 2007

It's nice like the others, same skill, same inspirational melodies, all that. Personally I just don't "feel" it as much since its not quite what I try to feel for in a music of this theme, but that's just me. This is still very good quality.

Author's Response:

I guess it's just personnal taste.

Christmas is for everyone

"My nomination for 2007 Christmas Theme Song"

date: September 19, 2007

Christmas carols piss me off. Too GD jingly. Yeah its nice to let lose and be a happy, air-headed moron from time to time, but the gd jingles for two and half months makes me surrounded by vacuous hyped out zombified air-heads for two and a half months.

Screw that. We need more things like Silent Night, but with more action like this. Make a person reflect, think more, and enjoy a greater range of emotions for such a monumental holiday.

September 21, 2007

Author's Response:

Yeah, that piece is still one of my best. Yet, this is nothing, you should take a look at this thread, where you can other great Christmas-themed pieces.
